Job Hopping - How to do it without hurting your career
Just starting out in the job market, you may not know exactly what kind of work you want to do or who you want to work for. But accepting one job after another with different companies, working less than a year and then moving on, will come back to haunt you once you DO find your dream job. Studies by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest that job hopping is more common among younger people: In 1996, workers between the ages of 18 and 32 held 9.6 jobs--most of them before age 23. So what can you do? Find a temporary agency that offers the type of work you love doing and sign up with them. Shop around to find one that treats you like their customer and not like their subordinate. Your resume can now show one employer (the agency) with a list of job titles and responsibilities that will look much better than having several employers over a two year period! ********************************************Terri Robinson, President - Robinson & Associates, a woman-owned recruiting company that specializes in sales and marketing professionals.
